Vie de la bienheureuse agnes de langeac - la premiere biographie
Charles-Louis Lantages - Collection Sagesses chretiennes
Résumé
--
The life of Agnès de Langeac, who was beatified in November 1994 by Pope Jean Paul II, was the subject of two Memoirs: one by Father Esprit Panassière, her Dominican confessor and the other by Father Arnaud Boyre, her "director" and Father Superior of the Jesuits at Puy. These texts cast light on the practice of spiritual guidance in the early 17th century. After arriving in 1653, twenty years after Agnès' death, as the Father Superior of the seminary at Puy which had just opened its doors, Charles de Lantages, priest of the Society of Saint-Sulpice, wrote a life of Mother Agnès drawing from the two above-mentioned Memoirs, generously reproduced here. He sojourned on many occasions at Langeac, and conversed with those sisters in the monastery who had lived alongside Agnès. In this way, he amassed a lot of new information from those who had known her and also succeeded in meeting Father Panassière in 1661.
