My parents, Bobbie and Ira, married when they were sixteen. My grandparents, who took me in when my parents couldn't care for me, always called my parents Mama and Daddy Nelson. #4 My mother, Myrle Greenhaw, was an amazing woman who was three-quarters Cherokee. She was fiercely independent and loved dancing, smoking, and card playing. She was scorned for her ethnic appearance in Abbott.
