Résumé

Please note: This is a companion version & not the original book. Sample Book Insights:#1 The Gadsden Purchase, which added nearly 30,000 square miles of territory to the United States, included the towns of Mesilla and Tucson, as well as all the mountains in between. Those mountains constituted the heart of Apacheria.#2 After the Americans acquired the land, Charles Poston and his friends Johnny Ward and William G. Poston, founded a frontier paradise in Arizona. They had no law but love, and no occupation but labor. They had no government, no taxes, and no public debt. It was a community in a perfect state of nature.#3 Ward had a ranch in the Sonoita Valley, which was a small, impoverished village south of Tucson. He met Jesus Maria Martinez, a young woman of considerable beauty and passion, there. She and her children accepted his offer of a new life on his 160-acre ranch.#4 The land was a new frontier, but it was also an ancient place haunted by the ghosts of those who had vanished from here before. The ancestors of the Apache people had lived in this area for thousands of years, and were a people of mysticism and magic.
