For many Israelis, it became a state religion. The idea of a Jewish state was changed to include the right to exist, and this was used as a barrier to stop any negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians.#4 Zionism, from its inception, has been a colonialist project. The first wave of settlers who came to Palestine in the 1800s were looking to expand the land they had been given, but were stopped by the native Palestinian population.
