Résumé

Created by the technical team who brought you PowerBuilder, the SilverStream development environment streamlines the formidable task of building secure, full-featured enterprise-wide database applications with total Web functionality. The first authorized guide to SilverStream, this powerful book not only shows you how to use SilverStream's rich toolset for porting mainframe and other data into Java or HTML -- it also includes a complete trial version of SilverStream Release 1.5 on its accompanying CD-ROM. Open SILVERSTREAM and get ready to:
  • Write client applications that can connect to Oracle 7.x, Sybase SQL Anywhere 5.5, Sybase SQL System 11, and MS SQL Server 6.5 databases
  • Create tables, table relationships, views and forms -- plus program events on forms
  • Build HTML pages with SilverStream's Page Designer
  • Use SilverStream to retrieve, navigate and manipulate data -- and its Expression Builder to allow queries to be modified with point-and-click ease
  • Conduct validation to assure data integrity
  • Test and debug SilverStream code and lock down security
  • Integrate Agents, E-mail and Java
  • Administer the SilverStream server to track problems, set up mail, and manage connections and licenses
