Résumé
--
The First Epistle of Peter has become surprisingly topical in view of the situation of the Christian Churches at the beginning of the third millennium - no longer living in "Christendom" - but in a pluralistic world. "Strangers and travellers", Christians are different sometimes peculiar. But that dissemination and difference are in keeping with a third term: testimony. If there is indeed a Christian 'diaspora' - if Christians are sometimes exposed to suffering - they are also a 'fraternity' a 'world-wide fraternity', whose mission is to provide one another with 'the multiple expressions of the God's grace'. Paul Bony offers a progressive and comprehensive reading of the First Epistle of Peter. He has strived to highlight the literary structure of each sequence as well as the dynamics of the whole Epistle. From this attention to the text and to its construction, the author gradually extracts a meaning for today's world. In the same vein as the Lire la Bible collection, this is not an in-depth commentary, but the author refers advantageously to some of the most recent great exegetical commentaries.
