La guerison spirituelle

La troisième partie de cette étude consacrée à la « guérison spirituelle » propose une relecture du processus de la maladie et de la guérison à travers les étapes qui conduisent, de la souffrance, à l'intériorisation de la conscience de la vie au coeur même de la sensibilité du vivant. L'analyse repart, en effet, de l'aporie de la souffrance pour mettre au jour la nature spécifique de la sensibilité comme étant le lieu privilégié de l'éveil de la conscience de la vie. La première étape décisive est celle de l'empathie : elle correspond à la manière dont l'homme, à travers l'ouverture même de sa conscience, assume le pas de l'existence. Ici, la vie se manifeste à l'homme dans le mouvement de la pure ouverture par laquelle l'extériorisation de soi dans le monde correspond à l'intériorisation du monde en soi. La seconde étape est celle de la compassion. Au-delà de l'empathie, il existe un degré plus profond de l'intériorisation de la conscience de la vie, qui correspond à la découverte de l'altérité au coeur même de la structure apparemment monolithique du moi : la compassion résulte de l'intégration de la relation dans l'identité naissante de la conscience personnelle. À mesure que s'ouvre et s'approfondit la conscience en direction du monde et de l'autre, la vie manifeste de plus en plus une puissance de « conversion » qu'elle exerce à l'endroit de toute forme de dualité. Cette force de conversion culminera en énergie de création, grâce à un approfondissement décisif de la conscience de compassion : il s'agit de la « compassion de la Vie pour la vie », qui mérite d'être identifiée à ce que la tradition biblique appelle la « miséricorde ». Avec la miséricorde s'effectue une réconciliation profonde en la conscience du vivant. Ici, le processus de guérison touche à son terme lorsque le vivant apprend à transcender le jugement de mort en dépassant, par une mort à son propre jugement, le poids d'une condamnation qui le garde captif de la mémoire du mal.

The third part of this study devoted to 'spiritual healing' presents one reading of the process of illness and healing through the stages that lead from suffering to the interiorisation of the awareness of life, at the very heart of the being's sensitivity. The analysis resumes with the aporia of suffering, in order to lay bare the specific nature of sensitivity as a privileged point of awakening to the awareness of life. The first decisive stage is that of empathy: it corresponds to the manner in which man, via the opening of his conscience, assumes the pace of existence. Here, life becomes manifest to man in the movement of pure opening through which the exteriorisation of the self in the world corresponds to the interiorisation of the world in the self. The second stage is that of compassion. Beyond empathy, there exists a more profound degree of interiorisation of the consciousness of life, which corresponds to the discovery of otherness at the heart of the apparently monolithic structure of the ego: compassion is the result of this relation being integrated into the dawning identity of personal awareness. A consciousness of the world and of the other opens up and deepens life gains increasing power of 'conversion' which is deployed toward all forms of duality. That force of conversion culminates in creative energy, thanks to a decisive deepening of awareness of compassion: this is what we call 'the compassion of Life for life', which deserves to be identified with what, in biblical tradition, is referred to as 'mercy'. With mercy, a deep reconciliation takes place in the consciousness of living creatures. At this point, the process of healing is almost complete, when the being has learned to transcend the judgement of death by overcoming, through the death of his own judgement, the despondency of a sentence that imprisons him in the memory of evil.
