L'exegese d'isaie 8 - 1-8
Gilbert Dahan - Collection Lectio divina
Résumé
--
Those who ponder the pericope in Isaiah, 8, 1-8, will find it prodigiously rich: the birth of the prophet's son, the strangely named Maher-Shalal-Hash-Baz, is surely linked to that of Emmanuel in the preceding chapter. It may evoke the peaceful flow of the River Siloe, but its verses echo the sound of wars and conflicts in the ancient Near East, with the inexorable rise of the Kingdom of Assyria. After a detailed presentation of the various difficulties stemming from the Hebrew text, four historical stages of the exegesis of this text are studied. The Septuagint translation infers a number of options, which weighed heavily on Christian tradition in Antiquity. The same observation can be made for the Jewish exegesis, of which a rich panorama is presented to readers here, likewise that of the 16th - 19th centuries. Medieval Christian exegesis is strongly influenced by Jerome's commentary but research was deepened and innovating contributions made by commenters during the Carolingian period and in the 12th and 18th centuries. Protestant exegesis in the 16th century is as historical in nature as it is moral and Christological from Johannes oecolampadius to Augustin Marlorat, an extremely rich corpus is examined in this book. In this way, the ensemble of the volume offers a fascinating exegetical itinerary, confirming the importance of a discipline still too rarely studied - the history of exegesis. This volume is the fruit of the fifth 'Journées bibliques' organised by the Laboratoire d'études des monothéismes / Institut d'études augustiniennes (CNRS-EPHE Sciences religieuses-Paris IV) and the Groupe de recherches sur les non-conformistes religieux des XVIe et XVIIe siècles et l'histoire des protestantismes (CRENEP, Protestant Theology Dept. at the University of Strasbourg).
