John Sloman

800 pages, parution le 20/02/2004 (5eme édition)

Résumé

This new edition of Sloman's Economics has been thoroughly revised and updated and several new features have been added. The full-colour design has been improved to make the book even more attractive and easy to use.

It still has one overriding aim: to make the subject of economics exciting, relevant and clear to understand. John Sloman achieves this by combining a straightforward and direct writing style with a wealth of contemporary examples and case studies that bring economic theory alive. These features have made Economics the most successful European-originated introduction to economics.

  • Self-assessment questions integrated throughout the text to encourage a more active and reflective approach to learning. Additional questions at the end of each chapter.
  • All technical terms highlighted and defined at the foot of the page where they first appear. Each term is also included in a comprehensive glossary at the end of the book and highlighted in the index for quick reference.
  • Web references in the margin. These refer students to a comprehensive list of sites in an appendix at the end of the book. These sites can all be accessed directly from the book's own Web site.
  • Full-page chapter introductions to give students an overview and to see how the chapter is structured.
  • Summaries at the end of each section to allow frequent checking on understanding.
  • Many boxes (around 7 per chapter) providing case studies, news items, contemporary and historical debates and issues, institutional material, anecdotes and advanced topics.
  • Plentiful examples drawn from around the world.
