OWL internals for advanced programmers

Ted Neward

Parution le 31/07/1998

Résumé

This advanced programming guide takes you into the internals of Borland's Object Windows Library (OWL) for version 5.0 and includes the additions and enhancements since OWL 2.5 first appeared. The author covers much of the OWL framework and classes, including messaging systems and maps, event handling and controls, the TModule and Tapplications for DLLs and EXEs. You are then guided through sub and superclassing, dialogs, windows and frames, including gadget windows. By design, this publication also leaves out printing and the GDI classes of the graphic display interface. You will trace message handling, discuss standard and custom window controls, and dive into OWL 5.0 dialog types and code. Familiarity with OWL, C++ and windows programming concepts is assumed. The CD-ROM contains code from this publication and the companion volume Advanced OWL 5.0. Both of these publications should enhance your OWL programming skills. After all, the author points out in both publications, "The Borland documentation leaves much to be desired..."
