Workshop Statistics
Discovery with Data a Bayesian Approach
Résumé
Workshop Statistics: Discovery with Data, a Bayesian Approach features most of the pedagogical features from the first editions of the series, ideas that have proven to be successful with instructors and students. The workshop approach fosters active learning, and eliminates the distinction between the conventional lecture and laboratory. Using this method, every student is actively engaged in learning the material through reading, thinking, discussing, computing, interpreting, and writing. This approach is also well suited to collaborative learning, and it stresses the importance of developing communication skills.
NEW to this Bayesian editions
Topics in probability, including the relative frequency and subjective interpretations, the computation of probabilities, and the interpretation of probability tables.
Use of Bayesian thinking to introduce the basic concepts of statistical inference.
Use of Web-based Javascript software (available free from the authors'Website) to illustrate probability concepts and perform Bayesian calculations.
Fathom' Dynamic Statistics, a versatile new Software learning environment for statistics that provides an easy-to-use tool for collecting, describing, exploring, and analyzing data, adds an exciting new dimension to statistics classes. Available in a Student Edition or a special Student Bundle Package as well as professional and institutional packages, visit our Website for more information and free demo download :
