Résumé

The Web. Video. Sound. The perfect convergence of media for a total experience. Wishful pipe-dreams until big fat bandwidth arrives, right?

Wrong. Despite the naysayers who claim it's still years away, a new content-model is evolving, and it's coming at you smarter and swifter than anyone could have predicted. Flash, the only credible route for bandwidth-friendly motion graphics, is becoming the default arena for creating content that brings together rich audiovisuals and user-friendly delivery. Just like the first Flash animations, the results are frequently breathtaking and surprising, ahead of their time and genre-defining.

What this book covers -
friends of ED know that an arid tone about "the future of the web" is the last thing you want. What you want is now, and this is what this book deals with, providing fully worked tutorials throughout, backed up with comprehensive video, audio and Flash files on the accompanying CD.

We're going to show you what's possible and how to craft your ideas for optimal impact and download. Rich media content is not a luxury or a detour from the mainstream, it's the key fork in the road. It's not something to sit around and wait for the networks to deliver. It's for creative designers like you. The book provides:

  • A clear roadmap of the options available to you
  • How to import video into Flash
  • How to efficiently convert video files to SWFs
  • How to include Flash in QuickTime and RealVideo
  • How to create, record and optimize sound for the Web

L'auteur - Fred Fauquette

Fred Fauquette was born in Lille in 1971, and spent his childhood studying maths. He dates his first emotional experience as the moment he did an online over a kerb on his skateboard for the first time. He became a Math teacher, and played some guitar when he hurt his ankle falling off his skateboard. Buying a Mac at the age of 25 started Fred's new life as a web designer and programmer and he founded analogiks-indians.com with his two pals David Caron and Erwan Defachelles. In addition to the web work, Fred takes black and white photographs, and spends time sculpting and painting. Fred would like to thank his children Simon and Thelma, and his wife Helene.
