Moving on from Computer Basics

You have already taken the first step by choosing this book. We will now show you some of the more interesting projects that really do begin to stretch the power of your computer. You will learn what some of those extra titles in your menu system are and how they are used, plus you will gain a fuller knowledge of some of the wonderful jargon being banded about and when you may be able to use it to your advantage.

You will no doubt have experienced a few problems already such as your computer getting stroppy and refusing to do anything you ask, or scary messages appearing on the screen that appear to threaten total self-destruction. Occasionally you will do everything, right and things still don't go according to plan. Don't worry, help is at hand - by the time you have read this book you should be able to tell the difference between a serious problem and a quaint characteristic.

This book is not a complete authority on computers, indeed no book is or ever could be. What you will gain from reading it is a deeper understanding so that you can progress to the level that suits you best. You will gain a broad overview of computers at work and enough knowledge to know which areas, if any, you wish to pursue in greater depth.
