Modern System Analysis and design
Jeffrey A. Hoffer, Joey F. George, Joseph S. Valacich
Résumé
McFadden, Hoffer, and Prescott. The strategic compatibilities between these two texts - such as consistency of frameworks, definitions, methods, examples, and notation - will help link the SA&D and database courses into a compenhensive presentation of systems development.
About the authors
Jeffrey A. Hoffer(Ph.D., Cornell University) is
Professor and Chair of MIS and Decision Sciences at the
University of Dayton. Co-author with Fred McFadden and Mary
Prescott of Modern Database Management, Fifth
Edition, and of Modern Systems Analysis and Design,
Second Edition with Joey F. George and Joseph S.
Valacich, Dr.Hoffer has authored numerous other books,
monographs, and research articles. He is also a founder of
TIMS College on Information Systems, the International
Conference on Information Systems, and the Association for
Information Systems. His current research and teaching
interests include systems analysis and design methodologies
(comparison of structured and object-oriented methods),
database design and administration(re-engineering
organizations via data modeling), human-computer
interaction (usability of tools and techniques for systems
analysis and design), and management of technology(adoption
and diffusion,business re-design through technology).
Joey F. George(Ph.D., University of California, Irvine) currently teaches at Louisiana State University. Dr. George has published numerous journal articles, is an Associate Editor of Information Systems Research (ISR),serves on the editorial board for Information Technology and People (ITP), and is the vice program chair for ICIS 1999 in Charlotte as well as being treasurer for the Section on Group Decision and Negotiation of INFORMS. His research focuses on the use of information systems in the workplace, including computer-based monitoring and desktop computing. He's currently investigating deceptive communication in group support systems.
Joseph S. Valacich(Ph.D., University of Arizona)
is an Associate Professor of Information Systems and is The
George and Carolyn Hubman Distinguished Professor in
Information Systems for the College of Business and
Economics at Washington State University, Pullman. He is a
member of the Institute for Operations Research and
Management Sciences (INFORMS), the Association for
Computing Machinery (ACM), and is a Charter Member
of the Association for Information Systems (AIS). He is
currently serving on the joint ACM-AIS task force designing
the curriculum for Master of Science Information Systems
Programs. He was awarded the Outstanding Faculty Service
Award from the Washington State University College of
Business and Economics in 1997, and is vice-chairperson of
ICIS 1999 in Charlotte. Dr. Valacich was recently
identified as one of the ten-most productive Information
Systems researchers in the world and his current research
interests include technology-mediated group
decision-making, electronic commerce, the diffusion of
technology in organizations, and distance learning. Dr.
Valacich serves on the editorial board of Small Group
