Résumé
No experience with Java or object-oriented programming is required ( you will develop a working Java application from first principles. By following the material and entering each step as shown in the text, you will develop a fluency in useful Java idioms as well as proper object-oriented technique.
Learn important features of Java and object-oriented programming in an evolutionary way ( you will take a simple two-function calculator and evolve it into a mortgage calculator that rests on a full-fledged object-oriented framework. Every one of the 170 project steps is motivated, explained, and demonstrated in code.
Get those problems out from under the rug! ( learn object-oriented principles that will serve as natural solutions to design problems or inadequacies. You will review the traditional approaches that lead to problems, and learn the object-oriented techniques to solve them.
So, get the straight Java POOP ( do some serious learning about Java topics that include: the Java virtual machine, classes, objects, fields, methods, properties, data hiding, exceptions, validation, threads, streams, events, JavaBeans, Javadoc, model-view viewer architecture, SQL and JDBC.
All project files and a trial copy of Borland's JBuilder3 Integrated Development Environment for Java is included on the accompanying CD-ROM.
Synopsis
As a platform independent language, Java is
particularly well suited to the exchange of data across
platforms and operating systems. This book is the first to
show how to build complex and reliable distributed
applications. "Java Principles of Object-Oriented
Programming" presents a comprehensive object-oriented
development theory that can teach the developer the full
potential of Java in distributed network applications.
