Résumé

Whether you're a curious beginner or a seasoned multimedia pro, you'll find
everything you need to author interactive Web sites, CD-ROMs, and other
professional-level apps in Director 8 Demystified. Published in
conjunction with Macromedia Press, it's training straight from the source.

Like previous editions, Director 8 Demystified's comprehensive
nature makes it the book that stays next to your computer rather than on
the shelf. Straightforward explanations are coupled with exercises that
give you immediate, hands-on experience with the program and the related
Lingo and Shockwave technologies. An accompanying CD-ROM contains many of
the tools and scripts discussed in the book.

Among other topics, this edition covers Director 8's:

  • Improved design and authoring tools
  • Ability to sort cast members by name, size, and date using the Cast
    Manager
  • Enhanced media control
  • Multiuser connectivity
  • One-click publishing of Shockwave content

L'auteur - Phil Gross

Phil Gross started working with computers back in the days when punch cards were used for input and switches were set to boot the computer. His first authoring project was writing training material for 8086 assembly language programming. He continues to write training materials, and has also written books on Macromedia Director, UNIX, assembly language, OS/2 programming, and other programming topics. In 1974, Phil founded Mel Co., which offers consulting and programming support.

Phil lives in the San Francisco Bay Area, but he'd generally rather be surfing somewhere in Mexico - in warm water. According to Phil, his books would never see the light of day were it not for the collaboration with his brother Mike, who works from his home in the Oregon woods, corrects Phil's oversights, and watches his forest grow.

L'auteur - Jason Roberts

Jason Roberts founded Panmedia, a New York City-based, consulting and production company specializing in interactive and conventional media. Before moving to New York from California, Jason was active in advertising as a producer, director and copywriter. In 1988, he was a member of the System 6.0 Development Team at Apple Computer. Jason has published two other books, Understanding Hard Disk Management on the Macintosh and The Macintosh Hard Disk Companion (both by Sybex). He has contributed to several computer books and has written articles for The Village Voice and the San Francisco Chronicle. Jason has a screenplay, "Happy Trails" currently in development.
