Beginning Active Server Pages 3.0
Brian Francis, David Sussman, John Kaufman, Chris Ullman, Jon Duckett, David Buser
Résumé
Active Server Pages (ASP) is a powerful and easy-to-use technology that is designed for use in creating dynamic web sites. Using ASP, we can write code that generates HTML dynamically - at the time the user requests the web page. This means that we can write more effective, interactive and functional web applications.
ASP 3.0 is the most recent version of ASP, and is released with version 5.0 of Microsoft' Internet Information Server (IIS 5.0) web server, with Windows 2000. It is also ported for use on UNIX.
ASP is an easy way to control content – giving us
the flexibility to handle complex professional commercial
sites.
If you want to program a web page, pure HTML is fine,
however this book shows how to add dynamism to web site
generation and will utilize components, objects and
Databases to achieve that.
What's Great About this Book?
- Will teach you ASP and script-based programming from the ground up
- Tutorial in ASP syntax, objects and components
- Covers data access techniques with ASP and ADO
- Includes full instructions and code for building a complete example application using ASP
- Full explanation of the context object paradigm
- Packed full of useable code examples, for re-use on your own sites
Who is this Book For?
Beginning Active Server Pages 3.0 is aimed at two
distinct groups of developers. First, it addresses the
needs of the HTML programmer who is looking to progress to
the next stage - to create dynamic web pages and understand
how to structure a site for future growth. Second, it is
aimed at developers switching to Windows 2000, by outlining
all the changes and explaining ASP from the standpoint of
IIS 5.0 and the new user interface.

L'auteur - Chris Ullman
Chris Ullman is a computer science graduate who has not
let this handicap prevent him becoming a programmer fluent
in Visual Basic, Java, SQL and Dynamic HTML. When not
cutting up pictures by old masters to re-assemble them as
dynamic jigsaws on his preferred browser, he's either found
down his local soccer ground urging on his favorite team,
Birmingham City, or at home trying to prevent his two new
kittens from tearing up the house, or each other. All my
love to Kate, who's always there to give me support and a
home and usually tries to look interested when I explain
the latest Internet based technology.
L'auteur - Jon Duckett
