Résumé

Adrian Perez's Advanced 3D Game Programming with MS DirectX 7.0 targets experienced computer game programmers as well as those interested in computer game development, but who are currently programmers in another market segment. The title will focus on the forthcoming version of Microsoft's DirectX 7.0. The title is suitable for beginning game programmers, but such topics as networking, artificial intelligence, advanced 3-D programming, optimization, and rasterization are also covered for the more experienced game programmer. Through Direct3-D immediate mode the programmer will learn how to use visual effects using multi-texture such as bump mapping and environment mapping, client-server network programming, advanced object representations such as parametric surfaces and progressive meshes, as well as neural nets and genetic algorithms. Of special importance the programmer learns about the visibility algorithms that make modern games perform at such high frame rates.

Features:
Advanced 3-D Game Programming with MS DirectX 7.0 is another addition to the very popular series, Wordware Game Developer's Library. This series of books targets computer software game developers and programmers and those who want to be a part of this industry. This market has significant growth potential as the technologies of animation, 3-D graphics, and modeling improve exponentially with the dramatic improvements in performance of hardware and software along with the lowering of costs.
