L'auteur - Julia Donaldson

Julia Donaldson grandit dans le nord de Londres au sein d'une grande famille où tout le monde aime la lecture et fréquente assidûment la bibliothèque et la librairie du quartier. Julia commence à écrire très jeune. Après ses études à l'université de Bristol, elle fait une carrière d'auteur de chansons. Son association avec l'illustrateur Axel Scheffler a donné naissance à de nombreux succès tels que "Gruffalo", devenu un classique.
Julia Donaldson vit à Glasgow où elle enseigne l'anglais. Elle écrit aussi pour la BBC, le théâtre et l'industrie du disque, et organise des ateliers de théâtre et de musique pour les enfants. Elle est aujourd'hui directrice de l'association caritative Artlink qui permet à des artistes de se rendrent dans des hôpitaux, prisons et écoles pour aider enfants et adultes à développer leurs talents et créativités.
Le 7 juin 2011 Julia Donaldson, a été élue Children's Laureate. Ce prix est décerné tous les deux ans à un écrivain ou illustrateur pour célébrer la qualité de ses publications.
