Français d'origine luxembourgeoise, Stéphane Bern est journaliste, rédacteur en chef adjoint aux trois magazines du Figaro et écrivain ; il s'est d'abord fait connaître comme spécialiste des têtes couronnées par de nombreux ouvrages de référence. Devenu en quelque sorte le "Monsieur Histoire" et "Monsieur Patrimoine" de France 2, il présente "Secrets d'Histoire" en première partie de soirée et l'émission quotidienne "Visites privées". Chaque jour il anime également à la radio, sur RTL, l'émission de divertissement "À la bonne heure".
