This extremely detailed book, published for the first time in English, covers the development of the atomic industry in the former Soviet Union. It deals with the activities of the production facilities, research institutes and design bureaus involved in the design and manufacture of equipments and materials applied in various fields of atomic science and engineering, but the primary focus is on the construction of atomic weapons.
